Set between the years 1739 to 1744, The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd is a
novel about 16-year-old Eliza Lucas, who is left in charge of her father’s three plantations in South Carolina. Her passion for growing indigo, when everyone said it couldn’t be done, changed the future of South Carolina. Although this is historical fiction, this novel is based upon historical documents and letters that Eliza wrote.
